For the last few years, friends and family members have been kindly bringing me back Chex cereal from the United States. Until now, Chex has not been available in Canada. I tried contacting General Mills a year ago to find out why and their response was very unhelpful – “At this time, the product you contacted us about is sold only in the United States. We appreciate your loyalty to General Mills products and will share your interest with the appropriate individuals.”
Luckily, it looks as though enough people have made the same inquiry because one friend reported a couple of days ago that she saw Chex Cereal at the Loblaws at Bayview and Sheppard in Toronto. Today, my husband picked up a box of Honey Nut Chex from our Sobey’s store at Queensway and Kipling. Apparently, there was a huge Chex display advertising that it’s gluten free.
In my opinion, Chex is one of the very few decent gluten free cereals currently on the market. Chex comes in a variety of flavours including Rice, Corn, Honey Nut, Chocolate and Cinnamon. My personal favourite flavours are Cinnamon and Honey Nut and I can happily eat my way through a box within a very short period of time! I am thrilled that Chex is slowly making its way to Canada and hope that everyone will be able to find it in their local grocery store in the near future.
