Gluten Free Halloween Candy

While living with Celiac Disease is enough of a challenge for an adult, I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be for children with the disease.  I think back to some of the fun food moments of my childhood – birthday cakes, kids meals at McDonald’s, ice cream cones – and I wonder how children adjust with Celiac.  I am certain that they must have wonderful parents who go above and beyond to make birthdays and restaurants just as special for them.

Halloween can be one of those challenging times for children with Celiac disease.  Unfortunately, the small chocolate bars and candy do not contain an ingredient listing on each package, rather on the box they came in.  As a result, parents can have a hard time deciphering what candy contains gluten once their children return home from trick or treating.  I hope that the following list of gluten free candy helps to make Halloween just as exciting and special for those children with Celiac disease.

  1. I’m sure parents will appreaciate that you’ve taken the time to create this list. All in one place rather than searching all over.

  2. Thank you for this, Katie. I will make sure to buy these items for my Hallowe’en candy so trick-or-treaters with celiac can have them. Plus, I now know what to buy for YOU when I want to give you a treat!
