Finger Food

Introducing solid foods to Emily has been such a fun and interesting experience.  The first few meals are always a challenge and you start to doubt whether your little one will ever like real food….sentenced to a life of breastfeeding.  But eventually, after a few meals, Emily began to enjoy her sweet potato, squash and applesauce.  Now Emily is starting to try out some finger foods – watermelon, melon, peach and banana.  Emily has been patient while mastering her pincer grasp and even without any teeth, she is doing quite well without mom having to puree all of her food to mush.

Mmm...melon....my favourite!
Some teeth would come in handy right about now!

  1. What a happy little girl! I love this, the picture, the smile and the further step towards independence. Emily seems to enjoy the texture of the food, learning to chew, and being able to pick up the melon in her own way and time.

  2. P.S. I also love the comment in the post, “sentenced to a life of breastfeeding.” I so respect how you took on that challenge despite all the drawbacks and difficulities, and are now gently moving Emily toward the next stage, It is not easy to be on call, 24-7, and when you breastfeed, it is only you who can bring the comfort the little one needs. I applaud you for the sacrifice you have made, and continue to make. I hope you know that it has all been worth it.
